Katherine Calnan is an award winning published fashion photographer and an Accredited Professional Photographer with the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC). Specializing in Fashion photography, Portrait photography and Commercial photography. She regularly works with some of largest model agencies in Canada and also agencies in America. Katherine has both a Business and Economics degrees from the University of Calgary. She then furthered her education in photography taking courses in Canada, USA and the UK. She spent a large part of her life in advanced competitive figure skating, ballet and dance. Katherine is also a black belt in Shotokan with further training in Ninjutsu and close quarter combat. After many years in the oil and gas industry she transitioned into the world of professional photography. She is based in Calgary Alberta and she travels extensively across Canada and the USA following her passion for photography and also covers assignments in Europe.

Katherine is very nice and tries out all kinds of poses until you're happy with the photos and she makes you feel very at ease. Honestly, they were all pretty good and I had a lot of fun!

My daughter Ashley scheduled a photo shoot with Katherine for her portfolio pictures. She didn’t have a lot of photo shoot experience and Katherine’s expertise was so helpful. She is kind, easy going and super easy to work with. She showed us the photos as the shoot went along, which was great. We would highly recommend Katherine for any photo shoot needs. Ashley is looking forward to working with her again soon!

I had a great time with Katherine. I was worried about the timing but she was so easy going and I did not feel rushed. I really liked how I got to see the photos as we went along. I normally don't like professional photos of myself as I tend to think I look awkward or off somehow. But I just recieved all the proofs and I'm having a hard time choosing among them! I definitely wanted to look myself and not like those filtered versions and Katherine definitely nailed it!

Katherine is an incredibly talented photographer and is amazing to work with! I initially worked with Katherine to coordinate corporate portraits for staff. She is so professional, attentive, friendly and radiates positive energy. Aside from everything mentioned above, she does an amazing job helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera. After seeing her awesome work, I reached out to see if she would do my engagement photos. She was so accommodating for our engagement photo shoot, making time in her busy schedule and offering her insight on location, attire, etc. The day of our photo shoot was a lot of fun. Throughout the session she would show us the photos to ensure we were happy with the outcome and also help us pose and feel comfortable in front of the camera. After the session, we received the photos right away. We were absolutely blown away by her amazing work! Her photos captured the moments perfectly and we are so happy with the overall experience. :)If you are looking for a photographer, I would highly recommend Katherine! She has an eye for photography and adds her own unique flare. Thanks again Katherine for making our engagement shoot so special! :)

Katherine was very helpful before, during, and after the photo shoot. She took her time during the photo shoot and suggested many ideas. Seems like she truly enjoys her job which makes her a great photographer to work with. The final photos met/exceeded my expectations.

Katherine is fantastic to work with, not only does she help you pose, she tells you why you have to stand in such a weird way to make the shots look great. It was very helpful for me to understand why posing feels so weird. Her hair and makeup artist is very friendly and highly skilled. Overall great experience!

Katherine did an amazing job in a quick, 10 minute shoot, to capture a professional, yet me, headshot! She is very professional, and also warm and enthusiastic, something it is hard to do in only a few minutes. She gives great direction to ensure you get an image that you are completely happy with and that makes you look your best. Highly recommend!

Wonderful. Katherine is genuine and warm kind and lovely. I attended a class on the basicis of photography and could not be more satistfied. There was a good balance of pratical hands on opportunities and theoretical learning. Professional models were brought in as a part of the experience providing an amazing opportunity to practice. I am very impressed and will be attending more classes in the future.

Katherine was awesome to work with! We had our daughter's 1 week and 1 year family photo session and got some amazing shots. She really took her time customizing props and scenes to our interests. I would absolutely, recommend and use her in the future.

Katherine is absolutely incredible! She came to photograph our newborn son within the first week and a half of his birth, and made the experience very memorable and enjoyable. It's definitely not easy to capture all the special moments with an unpredictable baby, but her patience, professionalism, and love for her work showed through in every image. She knows how to get the best angles and the results are absolutely gorgeous. Even the final packaging of the folio was impressive! You will not regret hiring Katherine to capture your special occasion, and I can't wait to work with her again! Thank you Katherine!!
