Model portfolio photography
Model portfolio photography and fashion photography was a large part of our initial work in professional fashion photography and still is an important part of our business today. During the early days Katherine was involved weekly with large and boutique model agencies in Calgary and Canada. Many hours working high paced test shoots with brand new models is an excellent way to grow in photography.
When working with people the relationship between the photographer and subject is important to get the best out of the opportunity. For many new models their first experience is standing in a line with other models while everyone watches on and then getting a 15 minute window of time to work with the photographer and get some usable shots for their portfolio. An experienced and talented photographer both technically and personally greatly aids the model getting the best results from their encounter.
As models get more experience under their belt, standing on set becomes less intimidating and and an enjoyable experience. Many experienced and top models will ask us where their light is and details about the concept and shoot to enable them to work to their best ability.
Over time model portfolio and commercial work becomes something of a dance between the model and the photographer. Model portfolio and fashion photography work is some of the most fun and enjoyable work and opens a world of creativity and connection to people and is something that we love to do.
To this day we still love to work with fashion and model portfolio shoots and are work with many commercial and advertising clients that are involved in the fashion and talent industries.
